Ultra Marathon Per Day, Every Day, From Margaret River, WA to Byron Bay, NSW.

William “Will” Burnett is about to embark on Australia’s most inspirational journey to raise awareness and funds for veteran suicide prevention and post-traumatic stress solutions.  He will be running an ultra marathon per day (56kms), every day, from Margaret River, WA to Byron Bay, NSW in a world record attempt.

On the 7th of September you can run your own self-paced challenge that we have provided you below anywhere you wish (e.g. maybe you want to do it on a treadmill or in nature). All you have to do is run your chosen distance non-stop before 27 November to save and change veterans lives.

WILL'S STORY

Will served for 10yrs in the Royal Australian Airforce eventually discharging as a Physical Training Instructor (PTI).

On Will’s return from the Middle East his mental health declined and he struggled through the clinical health system not getting any results, eventually becoming suicidal.

Will made it his purpose to heal and this was eventually achieved through a holistic approach of breath-work (in which he is now a world renowned practitioner) and personal development (he completed and excelled on the Survive to Thrive Nation Program).

Will connected with Survive to Thrive Nation (STTN) and was inspired by the thousands of veterans who not only recovered through their evidence based personal development program, but many are becoming coaches and mentors across Australia for other veterans. It also should be noted, in 9 years of operation they have had zero suicides for anyone who has completed their program. 

“More than 1200 veterans have taken their lives since our campaign in the Middle-East, compared to 41 in combat..  Can anyone see a problem here with the system? 46.8% of veterans will experience a mental health concern within the first 12 months of discharge.  Yet, through personal development and breath-work I was able to find recovery.  The STTN program have proven to save and change lives at an unprecedented level. While the Australian Defence Force continues to train veterans for war, but does not train us to come home, we need to step up and change and save lives now, and I need your help Australia!”

  • This distance is achievable for most people and is perfect for a beginner who wants to become more active.
  • The training program consists of short walking/running sessions and does not require much experience.
  • You should expect to complete your 2.4km run in one go by 17 November.
  • If you have any concerns about your physical capabilities or have any minor injuries, then this distance is for you (Always Consult Your Doctor First)

  • Aim to be able to run 5kms in one go. This is the standard for most shorter running events and is perfect for someone who wants a challenge but doesn't have much running experience.
  • This distance is also well suited for teams as if required, team members who struggle can complete the distance by walking.
  • The training program consists of slow but moderately increasing running sessions.
  • It is recommended to allow for 2-3 running sessions per week to achieve this distance effectively, this is very achievable for most.
  • The average completion time for a 5km run is roughly 25 - 40 mins, so expect to be blown away by how well your body can adapt and achieve this running distance.

  • The training program is not complicated but is designed to increase running session times up until the 17th of November.

While we have chosen to keep the on the road support crew small, the support and contribution that we ask to receive will be assisting in restocking our clean water, whole and organic food, accommodation and any massage/physiotherapy/chiropractic assistance in the townships we will be stopping in.
